SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Scholarships will be awarded to local High School Seniors based on essay entries and other selection criteria. The proceeds from our annual Ronnie Randall Memorial Golf Tournament fund this program.

Who Can Apply

The Scholarship is open to graduating High School Seniors in the following counties in Alabama: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, or Pike.

Southern Bone & Joint Specialists is committed to providing superior orthopedic care to the region. Our Foundation was created to promote wellness, support community services, and expand access to education through philanthropy.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

Students must reside in the following counties in Alabama: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, or Pike.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

Student plans to enter college the fall semester following high school graduation with a declared major in a healthcare-related field.

GPA & GRADE REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must be a high school senior in the Alabama counties mentioned above and must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

SBJS employees and families are not eligible. This includes siblings, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Scholarship awards can range from $1000 to $2500 depending on funds raised at each year’s annual event(s). This year’s scholarships will be presented at our annual banquet at Highland Oaks Golf Course Clubhouse in Dothan on Wednesday, May 15, 2025.

Write an essay based on the following. “What is the most significant challenge facing your generation, and what solutions would you propose to address it?” Instructions for Applicants: Write your essay from your personal perspective, reflecting on how this challenge has directly impacted your life, values, or community. Use specific examples from your own experiences to illustrate your insights. For instance: How has this challenge shaped your goals, fears, or daily life? What personal stories, struggles, or observations inform your understanding of the issue? How does your background (cultural, socioeconomic, geographic, etc.) influence your view of this challenge? Your proposed solutions should emerge from your unique perspective—what ideas, skills, or passions could you contribute to addressing this problem?
